Scammers Pretending to Be Carabinieri Offer Fake Magazine Subscriptions

Pretending to be Carabinieri, they contact hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the Middle and Upper Garda regions by phone, proposing subscriptions to magazines of the military.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement forces.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri – simply dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after receiving the money, disappear.
