Scammers Pretending to Be Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in Middle and Upper Garda, offering subscriptions to army magazines.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality‘s police.

How to recognize scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the genuine Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who,

desires money, and then goes out of sight.
