Scammers Pretending to Be Carabinieri Target Garda Businesses

They pretend to be Carabinieri when contacting hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the Medio and Alto Garda areas, offering subscriptions to magazines from the force.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the Municipality police.

How to Recognize the Scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri — simply call 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, if they have money, disappear and become unreachable.
