Scams in Garda Impersonate Carabinieri to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

The scammers impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurants in the Middle and Upper Garda areas, offering subscriptions to the force‘s magazines.

They are not military personnel, but fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance authorities, police, fire brigades, or the Comune police.

How to recognize the scams

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who,
