On Thursday, in response to the increase in tourism during the summer of 2023, an **extraordinary security control operation** took place in Desenzano del Garda and the surrounding municipalities. The Chief of Police for the Province of Brescia, Paolo Sartori, coordinated a joint operation involving the Crime Prevention Unit, the local Police Station, and the Municipal Police. The checks primarily focused on areas around the train station, along the lakeside promenade, and in Piazza Garibaldi, and extended to Sirmione, Pozzolengo, and Lonato. During the operation, **214 individuals** were identified, including 85 foreigners, and one establishment was fined for operating without a license.
During the checks, a thirty-year-old man was found in possession of hashish and was reported to the Prefecture. The inspections revealed several irregularities in public establishments, which will be subject to further investigation by the relevant authorities. This initiative is part of a broader plan to ensure the safety of citizens and prevent crimes during the summer months; the Chief of Police emphasized the importance of the presence of law enforcement in the area to uphold legality and create a safe environment for everyone.
