The black feathers are preparing to return to Manerba del Garda for the 71st Alpini Gathering of the Monte Suello Section of Salò, a celebration that will take place on September 6 and 7, 2025. This eagerly anticipated event will feature a wide range of ceremonies, parades, and side events.
The Return of the Gathering and the Mayor’s Remarks
The mayor of Manerba, Flaviano Mattiotti, emphasized the historical and current significance of the event, recalling that a previous sectional gathering was held in the municipality back in 1946. “It will certainly be an honor for me as mayor to welcome all these black feathers to our area,” stated Mattiotti, highlighting the value of the Alpini’s commitment. “It is truly important to give proper recognition to those who work so hard in our community, those who do so much good but also know how to have fun.” According to the mayor, the municipality will be “up to the task of this success that the Alpini certainly deserve.”
Saturday, September 6 Program
The event will kick off in the early afternoon on Saturday with a sports event: at 2:00 PM, the Football Triangular among the Sections of the Brescia area is scheduled to take place at the sports field on Via Noveglie.
The official celebrations will begin at 4:00 PM with the gathering of the Alpini in Piazza S. Bernardo, located in the Montinelle district. At 4:45 PM, a ceremony will be held at the Alpino monument, featuring the raising of the flag and honors for the Fallen. Following this, a parade will traverse the streets of the town to pay homage to the monument located in Piazza A. Moro. The day will continue with a Mass at 6:30 PM in the parish church of S. Maria Assunta, and will conclude with a convivial refreshment in the courtyard of the parish center at 7:00 PM, followed by musical entertainment at 9:00 PM.
Events on Sunday, September 7
The main day of the gathering, Sunday, September 7, will begin at 9:00 AM with the assembly of participants on Via Gassman, in the Crociale area. The most anticipated moment will be the official parade, which will start at 10:30 AM and will wind through the streets of the town.
At 11:30 AM, official speeches are scheduled to take place on Via Atleti Azzurri, during which the traditional passing of the baton will also occur. The ceremonies of the 71st Sectional Gathering will conclude at 12:30 PM with the lowering of the flag.
