Series of Hotel and Residence Burglaries in Riva Under Investigation

Another series of thefts in hotels and apartments. Once again, doors have been forced open and significant damage caused to furniture, fixtures, and walls. In this case, the targeted area is Riva.

Details of the thefts

Stolen items amounting to several million lire, including cash and valuables. Between 9:00 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, some criminals broke into two residences on via Longa, at Villa Ester and at the **Hotel Riviera** on viale Rovereto.

In one instance, it was a seasonal hotel employees’ accommodation: the front door of the residence was forced open, and the apartment door was pried off. Inside, cash and valuables were stolen.

At the **Hotel Riviera**, which is currently closed, the thieves managed to reach the fifth floor of the building, where they knew the owners’ apartment was located, and attempted to break into the safe.

The discoveries and investigations

The attacks in that wing are only the third series, beginning on the night of January 20 in Torbole, when two closed-for-holidays hotels and the owners’ apartments were ransacked, with little success for the burglars and significant damage for the hoteliers.

The series continued with a break-in at a jewelry store in the heart of Riva. Talking about a series now seems reasonable, given the similarity in techniques used.

The Polizia di Riva is gathering all relevant evidence and is vigorously investigating. It is almost certain that the culprits are outsiders, with connections to local accomplices who know exactly where to strike with minimal risk.

An example is the break-in in Riva: the license plate Bolognese vehicle, used for the escape and stolen the day before, was found in a field near Dro.
