Silent book in Toscolano Maderno: social inclusion and accessible culture

An innovative project dedicated to social inclusion through silent books has been launched in Toscolano Maderno, thanks to the Northern Brescia Library System, which has received funding from the Lombardy Region’s “Avviso Unico Cultura 2025” call for proposals. Titled “Pages of Silence: Voices and Visions Beyond Words,” the program includes a series of activities aimed at engaging librarians, teachers, and families by using illustrated books without text to overcome linguistic and cultural barriers. Training for professionals in the field is already underway, with the goal of integrating these tools into local libraries. Additionally, a traveling bibliographic exhibition will be set up in libraries throughout the area, starting in Toscolano Maderno until November 8, and continuing with stops in Salò, Vobarno, and Padenghe. During the event, inclusive workshops and readings for children will be organized, particularly targeting the most vulnerable audiences. This initiative not only promotes reading as a means of social cohesion but also strengthens the role of libraries as open spaces for everyone. Italian Version
