Recently, Sirmione hosted the award ceremony for the NextGen Green project, an initiative aimed at encouraging young people aged 16 to 29 to develop innovative ideas for sustainability. Four projects were selected to receive scholarships worth 500 euros each, following a training phase led by experts. Among the winning proposals are a green area cultivated with dwarf bamboo to absorb CO2, an app dedicated to recycling and reusing items, an initiative for the protection of local biodiversity, and a recreational space designed to promote youth gathering.
The young participants demonstrated great enthusiasm and competence in proposing solutions that not only address environmental issues but also promote social well-being and more mindful relationships within the community. The second phase of the project now involves the implementation of the presented ideas, with ongoing support from mentors. The local administration emphasized the importance of giving young people a voice in building a sustainable future, highlighting how these initiatives can transform into concrete actions for the territory.
