The poet from Sirmione, Franca Grisoni, has won the prestigious Giuseppe Malattia della Vallata Award for her dedication to dialect poetry. The award ceremony will take place on Thursday, September 18, during the Pordenonelegge literary festival, an event celebrating the XXXVII edition of the award, which now focuses on recognizing the careers of poets who use minority languages and local dialects. Grisoni was chosen for her ability to transform her spoken dialect into a true poetic language, maintaining an original style and a unique musicality over time.
Born in 1945, Grisoni began writing in the dialect of her hometown and gained notoriety with her collection “La böba,” published in 1986, which won the Bagutta Prize the following year. The Giuseppe Malattia della Vallata Award, established in 1988 in memory of the “Singer of Valcellina,” is organized through the collaboration of the Municipality of Barcis, Pro Barcis, the Pordenonelegge Foundation, and the Menocchio Cultural Circle, supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region and Gialean. During the meeting at Pordenonelegge, Grisoni will have the opportunity to share her work with the audience present.
