Sirmione and the renewable energy community: towards shared sustainability
The Renewable Energy Community of Sirmione has officially been established, marking a significant initiative to promote sustainability and engage the local community. This ambitious project brings together citizens, businesses, and public entities to produce, share, and consume energy from renewable sources such as photovoltaics. Through this model, participants will have access to clean energy without the need to own installations, thereby contributing to the reduction of energy costs and CO₂ emissions. The municipality has already taken concrete steps with active photovoltaic systems on public buildings and plans further interventions to expand clean energy production. A public meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 9:00 PM in the Virgilio Hall of Sirmione to officially present the Renewable Energy Community to citizens. Mayor Luisa Lavelli and GardaUno’s Operations Director Massimiliano Faini will speak at the event, which will also allow for questions from the audience. Local authorities have emphasized the importance of the energy community not just as a technical project but as a new way of teamwork, capable of generating real change through collaboration among all involved parties.
