Sirmione has launched a trial of smart bins in the area, an initiative introduced by Sirmione Servizi to promote a more efficient and sustainable waste management system. The first installation of these innovative bins has been carried out to test the effectiveness of the technology, with the aim of extending the project throughout the municipality. Sole Administrator Valentina Raimondi emphasized the importance of collecting real data to assess the benefits in terms of efficiency and costs, while Mayor Luisa Lavelli highlighted how this strategic choice could enhance services and elevate the city’s image, which welcomes thousands of visitors every day.
The new bins are equipped with integrated sensors and automatic waste compaction, allowing for emptying only when necessary. Thanks to these advanced technologies, a reduction in traffic and emissions associated with the collection service is expected. Environmental Delegate Councilor Miria Bocchio stressed that this project contributes to building a more sustainable Sirmione, respecting the territory and improving urban aesthetics even during peak tourist seasons.
