A routine check by the Local Police of Sirmione turned into a significant operation against fencing when officers stopped a suspicious vehicle in recent days. Inside the car, two Romanian citizens initially claimed they were in the area for tourism, but their behavior raised the officers’ suspicions, prompting them to conduct a more thorough inspection. On the back seat, hidden under worn blankets, a large quantity of clothing was found—primarily for women and children—many of which still had tags and anti-theft devices attached.
In the trunk of the car, additional stolen items were discovered, including clothing from well-known brands such as Oviesse and H&M. The officers also seized several shielded bags, presumably used to evade anti-theft systems in stores. The total value of the stolen goods exceeds 20,000 euros and is now under seizure. Investigations are ongoing to identify the retail outlets from which the stolen merchandise originated, aided by the cooperation of store owners and the analysis of the identifying codes on the products.
