The Municipality of Salò, in collaboration with the Advanced Equilibri Association and the Proloco, has launched a new cultural initiative that promises to enrich the local artistic landscape. The SounDrawing Project, curated by Anna Lisa Ghirardi, was presented to the public on Saturday, October 5th, and serves as a starting point for a series of events dedicated to the interaction between sound and drawing.

Union of Different Arts

This project stands out for its ability to unite various artistic languages. The aim is to create a dialogue between visual arts, music, and performance, involving artists from different fields. Participants include musicians, sound and light designers, as well as visual artists. The exhibition seeks to explore the relationships between sound and drawing, offering a diverse range of events that stimulate the creativity and imagination of the audience.

Art in the Urban Fabric

A distinctive feature of the SounDrawing Project is the desire to bring art outside traditional exhibition spaces. The organizers aim to engage those who are unfamiliar with the art world, making it accessible to everyone through artistic experiences integrated into the daily life of the city. As highlighted by Mayor Francesco Cagnini and Cultural Councillor Alberto Comini, this event offers new expressive modes for Salò and fits perfectly within the “Salò is Culture” program, which will accompany residents and tourists throughout the autumn.

The First Evening: Songs in Between

The inaugural evening featured Fabio Dondelli and Francesco Levi with the show “Songs in Between.” It took place in Piazza Zanelli, the vibrant heart of Salò’s historic center. During this unique performance, singer-songwriter Dondelli presented his songs while Levi created graphic works on the exterior walls of the church of San Giovanni Decollato. This “concert to watch” provided the audience with a multisensory experience where music and visual art fused in an original way.

Who Are the Artists

Fabio Dondelli, originally from Brescia (1977), has been active in the Italian music scene since 1996 with several discographic productions to his credit. He has collaborated with various artists and has pursued a solo career under the pseudonym Il Sindaco. His latest EP “The People You Meet” will be released on December 1, 2023.

Francesco Levi (Brescia 1976), graduated in Industrial Design from the Politecnico di Milano in 2002, boasts a rich career as an illustrator and theater set designer. He has exhibited his works both in Italy and abroad and is known for his artistic collaborations in diverse contexts.
