Step Nota and the Italian Financial Police: a significant Risorgimento connection

Recent historical events were at the center of a significant commemoration at Passo Nota, where the III Battalion of the Guardia di Finanza was mobilized to celebrate the 251st anniversary of the founding of the corps. During the ceremony, a detailed reconstruction of the History of the Risorgimento was presented, particularly highlighting the heroic contribution of the financial officers from Brescia between 1800 and 1945. Commander Emanuele Maestri and historian Bruno Festa brought attention to significant episodes such as the battles of Rocca d’Anfo and Vezza d’Oglio, emphasizing the strategic and symbolic importance of the financial forces in the context of the Italian wars of independence.

Furthermore, the celebration included a reminder of the fight against smuggling and tax evasion, underscoring how the principles that motivated the financial officers during the Risorgimento continue to inspire the corps’s current activities.
