Extraordinary checks in Desenzano: enhanced security for the summer. In the current week, law enforcement agencies have launched an intensive operation for territorial control in the Basso Garda area, focusing on sensitive locations in Desenzano, such as the train station, the lakeside promenade, and the historic center. The initiative has also extended to the neighboring municipalities of Sirmione, Pozzolengo, and Lonato, with the aim of combating urban decay, drug trafficking, and the irregular presence of foreign nationals. For this operation, a joint task force has been activated, involving various local police entities.
During the activities carried out on Thursday, 214 individuals were identified—of whom 85 were foreign nationals and 75 had prior convictions—and 59 vehicles were inspected. Four commercial establishments were checked, one of which was fined for administrative irregularities related to documentation. A significant incident involved the arrest of a thirty-year-old found in possession of hashish; in addition to the administrative fine and a report to the Prefecture, the Anti-Crime Division is considering preventive measures against him. Chief of Police Sartori emphasized that such services aim to prevent risky situations and ensure greater safety in the area throughout the summer.
