At the TTG fair in Rimini, one of the main national events dedicated to the tourism sector, a significant agreement was announced between Navigazione Laghi and Trenitalia, part of the FS Group. This collaboration aims to integrate rail and boat transport services on Lake Garda, representing a concrete step towards more sustainable and interconnected mobility.

A Strategic Meeting

The panel that outlined the agreement featured key figures such as Trenitalia’s CEO, Eng. Luigi Corradi, the Government Manager of Navigazione Laghi, Dr. Pietro Marrapodi, and the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council, Sen. Alessandro Morelli. The event was moderated by journalist Laura Barth.

Boosting Tourism on the Lake

Pietro Marrapodi emphasized the importance of the new initiative: “We transport 12 million travelers annually, a figure that continues to grow, demonstrating how the lake destination is now a site of great national and international interest.” The agreement with Trenitalia aims to facilitate access to Italy’s lakes for tourists coming from areas far from Northern Italy. With discounted fares and comfortable travel, the goal is to encourage visits to the region’s natural beauty.

An Integrated Service for Tourists

CEO Corradi highlighted how this partnership promotes an increasingly integrated transport system: “We want to provide a complete service, from the first to the last mile.” This approach will allow visitors to reach their destinations sustainably through an effective combination of rail and boat services.

Commitment to the Green Transition

Undersecretary Morelli discussed the importance of intermodality in the ecological transition initiated by the Government: “It must not leave anyone behind,” asserting that even less-served areas should have access to adequate opportunities to achieve high levels of intermodality. The presented agreement will not only facilitate access to Lake Garda but also to Lake Maggiore and Lake Como, expanding possibilities for tourists coming from all over Italy and Europe.

Towards Sustainable Daily Mobility

In concluding his remarks, Senator Morelli described this collaboration as essential for ensuring that citizens and tourists have the opportunity to travel daily using effective intermodal methods that combine trains and boats. The synergy between Trenitalia and Navigazione Laghi thus represents an important step towards more sustainable tourism development in the Lake Garda region.
