Tax Evasion in Massage Centers: The Case of Brescia

The Guardia di Finanza of Brescia has recently uncovered a significant operation against tax evasion in the massage center sector, revealing undeclared income totaling approximately 1.5 million euros. As part of the investigations, 24 workers were identified as being employed illegally, and two properties were seized. The operations involved several centers in the province, where it was found that 11 establishments, while formally operating as massage centers, were actually offering services typical of sex work. A notable case involved a sex worker in Desenzano del Garda, who failed to declare nearly 500,000 euros to the tax authorities. Following this discovery, a procedure was initiated with the Revenue Agency, leading to the precautionary seizure of an apartment to ensure the recovery of the evaded amount. Overall, the inspections revealed sanitary and hygiene irregularities in some establishments, resulting in the immediate suspension of activities and underscoring the need for ongoing action by the relevant authorities to combat such illicit phenomena.
