Tourism in the Garda area under scrutiny by the Finance Police: irregularities uncovered between Desenzano and Salò. In recent hours, the Guardia di Finanza has intensified inspections in the tourism sector, uncovering serious irregularities in 18 establishments, including hotels, bed and breakfasts, and non-hotel accommodations in the municipalities of Desenzano del Garda and Salò. The operation revealed over €250,000 in undeclared income from overnight stays that escaped tax scrutiny, highlighting a concerning trend of tax evasion and undeclared work. Among the violations found, two B&Bs were completely illegal, lacking the necessary permits and the National Identification Code (CIN), while three establishments failed to display the CIN, which has been mandatory since January 1, 2025.
In addition to the fiscal irregularities, six workers were found to be employed irregularly, with five of them completely “off the books.” There were also recorded instances of unreported tourist taxes, which must be refunded to the relevant municipalities. Finally, in at least two establishments, the identifying information of over 10,000 guests between 2024 and the early months of 2025 was not communicated to the police headquarters, thus hindering the security checks mandated by the State Police. This operation is part of a broader plan for fiscal oversight in the Garda tourism sector, an area experiencing significant growth but frequently plagued by issues related to illegality.
