Surface works have begun, marking the final phase of the project to redevelop Via Gerardi. After a year since the project was presented, the phase of refurbishing the subservices has been completed. These subservices were found to be outdated due to maintenance over the years instead of necessary replacements.

Thanks to funding from the PNRR funds, the municipal administration has decided to implement the necessary plans for a complete redevelopment of this important central street and traffic junction in the city.

During the construction, the methane gas and water networks were upgraded, including connections to individual users. The separation of white and black water was also carried out, with connections to individual users. In addition, a new district heating line was installed for the buildings between Via Antiche Mura and Via Zambelli.

All these interventions were carried out under the constant supervision and monitoring of the archaeologist from the Superintendency, ensuring the full functionality of the services to the citizens.

The municipal administration actively collaborated with the six different service providers to support the total restoration costs, with a total investment of €360,000.

During these months, the area affected by the works underwent multiple changes in traffic flow, but all were studied and implemented after careful evaluation by the administration, the municipal technical office, the local police force, and the Neighborhood Councilors for the Historic Center, as well as the Merchants Association.

Thanks to the ongoing dialogue established with citizens through the Neighborhood Councilors and communication on the official digital channels of the Municipality (website and Facebook page), the administration collected real feedback on the issues raised by the citizens.

Now, we are entering the final phase of the redevelopment works on Via Gerardi with surface interventions. This phase will be more invasive from a traffic perspective but will define the completion of the entire project. The administration hopes that the works can be completed by the end of the summer season.

Regarding traffic management during this phase, the institutional website provides visual representations of the three main phases of road closures and the related provisions regulated by Local Police Ordinance No. 103 of 10/04/2023.

The coming weeks will involve interventions such as the installation of new public lighting systems and the preparation of ducts for burying ENEL and TELECOM lines. Road plans will also be prepared for the installation of porphyry and granite paving materials after the demolition of the existing road pavement.

The administration has already met with the Neighborhood Councilors and the Merchants Association to explain the details and characteristics of each phase. Some suggestions have also been taken into consideration and will be evaluated to ensure the best possible solution, taking into account the needs of everyone and the requirements of the works.

Mayor Roberto Tardani emphasizes that they are aware of the difficulties faced by citizens during this period and thanks the Neighborhood Councilors and those who have collaborated with the administration to ensure clear and effective communication. He encourages citizens to follow the official channels to stay updated and to contact the Neighborhood Councilors for any clarifications or discussions.
