Following the resignation of seven out of twelve municipal councilors, the Prefect of the Province of Brescia, Dr. Maria Rosara Laganà, has suspended the Municipal Council of San Felice del Benaco. The decision was officially announced today, with the appointment of Deputy Prefect Dr. Anna Frizzante as Commissioner for the provisional management of the local authority. Dr. Frizzante, who is currently serving at the Prefecture of Brescia as Deputy Chief of Staff, will be assisted by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Giuseppe La Corte, an Administrative Officer at the same Prefecture, who will hold vicarious functions.
This communication comes directly from the Prefecture of Brescia and concerns the appointment of the commissioner for the management of the Municipality of San Felice del Benaco. This intervention became necessary due to the chaotic situation that has characterized the municipality, just one month after the local elections, culminating in the mass resignation of the municipal council due to the declared ineligibility of the newly elected mayor, Lorenza Baccolo.
“The Deputy Prefect, Dr. Anna Frizzante, is vested by law with the powers of the Municipal Council, the Executive Board, and the Mayor,” specifies the Prefecture. At the same time, the Prefect has forwarded a proposal to dissolve the Municipal Council to the Ministry, a measure that falls under the exclusive competence of the President of the Republic.
