A recent spate of thefts has hit Castiglione delle Stiviere, raising concerns among residents and damaging several local establishments, including schools and businesses. An operation by the local Carabinieri led to the arrest of a 36-year-old man, originally from the province of Brescia and residing in the town, who is believed to be responsible for at least 16 aggravated thefts that occurred between March and June. The suspect primarily acted at night, breaking into vending machines within educational institutions such as the “Castiglione Uno” Comprehensive Institute and the Battisti school.
The investigation was aided by the analysis of surveillance footage, which allowed the authorities to identify the alleged perpetrator. Following the collection of evidence, the Public Prosecutor obtained a precautionary measure from the investigating judge at the Mantova Court, resulting in the man being placed under house arrest with an electronic bracelet. This intervention aims to ensure greater security in schools and the areas affected by the thefts, thereby reassuring the local community.
