Tignale Boosts Agrobiodiversity With Public Events in Prabione
Agrobiodiversity will be the focus of two public events in Tignale on Friday, 19 June, organized by the Parco Alto Garda Bresciano under the VISTA and POMONA projects, funded by the 2023-2027 Lombardy Rural Development Programme. The programme begins at 9:30 at the Parco Alto Garda Bresciano Museum with a seminar titled “Biodiversity to be enhanced: success stories in the Lombardy Region,” introduced and moderated by agronomist Maria Elena Massarini. The event will also feature a talk by Laura Ronchi from the Lombardy Regional Directorate for Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests on rules and the registration of local varieties, alongside testimonies on traditional products including the Poppina apple of Orino, the Valvestino bean, and Menconico truffle.
From 11:30 to 13:00, a second meeting will take place at the Parco Alto Garda Bresciano Visitor Centre: “Census, recovery and characterization of local pomace fruits” (POMONA). The session will present participatory science protocols for surveying pomace varieties and include hands-on activities at the biodiversity catalogue field for enthusiasts, farmers and citizens. Participation is free, with registration handled via the Consorzio Forestale Terra tra i Due Laghi; on Saturday, 20 June, a guided “Tour delle malghe” educational walk is also scheduled, featuring tastings and short talks on landscape, biodiversity, agriculture and livestock in Valvestino.
