Toscolano Maderno School Gym Reopens After Construction Delays

Toscolano Maderno’s primary school gymnasium was officially reopened Thursday after a lengthy renovation process. Originally contracted in March 2024 with a completion deadline of August 6, 2024, the project experienced delays that led the municipality to terminate the initial contract in August 2025 and appoint Generali Costruzioni, the third-ranked bidder, to complete the work.

The reopening ceremony was attended by Mayor Chiara Chimini, Vice Mayor Vittoria Goi, and project manager Francesco Sandri. School officials and sports association representatives confirmed the gym will resume use for physical activities, with students celebrating the occasion by singing the Italian national anthem. The delays, including penalties and unmet deadlines, prompted the municipality to engage other bidders, ensuring the project’s completion and the facility’s return to the community.
