Tourist checks in Desenzano del Garda: irregularities in accommodation facilities

Widespread inspections in Desenzano del Garda, Sirmione, and Lonato: hefty fines for several tourist establishments. An inter-force operation has revealed significant irregularities in approximately fifteen accommodation facilities in the area, involving the Carabinieri from the Desenzano del Garda Company, local police, and inspectors from the Health Protection Agency (ATS) of Brescia. The extraordinary inspections, conducted on Friday, August 29, targeted hotels, bed and breakfasts, and short-term rental apartments, revealing that more than half of the establishments inspected were not in compliance with the regulations outlined in the Tourism Code. Among the violations noted were the failure to display the National Identification Code (CIN) and the absence of the Certified Notification of Start of Activity (SCIA).

Additionally, serious hygiene and health issues were identified in one specific establishment, where a bedbug infestation was detected. Fines for these irregularities vary significantly: from €500 to €5,000 for failing to display the CIN, and from €1,800 to €6,000 for the absence of the SCIA, with penalties potentially reaching €19,000 for serious hygiene violations. This operation underscores the commitment of local authorities to ensure high standards in the tourism sector and to protect visitors.
