TOURIST! Exhibition at MuSa Salò: The Charm of Lake Garda Travel
The TOURIST! Exhibition at MuSa Salò welcomes visitors with Stendhal’s famous words—“probably the most beautiful landscape in the world”—and Goethe’s 1786 sketches of Torbole, tracing two centuries of allure across Lake Garda from Romanticism to the Belle Époque.
Open until October 4, 2026 at the MuSa (Museo di Salò), the exhibition curated by P. Boifava and M.P. Pasini, in collaboration with A. Rigoni, explores how artists, aristocrats, and early travelers transformed the Benaco into a world-renowned destination. Through historical photographs, lithographs, vintage luggage, guidebooks, and period couture, visitors discover iconic vistas from Punta San Vigilio to Sirmione’s Grotte di Catullo, Malcesine, and Riva del Garda.
In creative dialogue with the MAG (Museo Alto Garda) exhibition in Riva, this retrospective celebrates Lake Garda as an enduring bridge between Mediterranean warmth and Central European fascination.
