Tourist illness in Manerba del Garda: tragedy in the water
A tragic incident occurred in Manerba del Garda on the late afternoon of Monday, September 1, when an 83-year-old German tourist died from a medical emergency while swimming in the lake. The elderly man was in the water in front of the Rio campsite, near Porto Torchio, when he was noticed struggling by other swimmers around 6:00 PM. He was immediately assisted by bystanders and brought back to shore while the emergency services were alerted.
Rescue vehicles, including an ambulance, a medical car, and an air rescue team, quickly arrived at the scene. Paramedics performed resuscitation maneuvers for several minutes, but unfortunately, all attempts were in vain, and the elderly man could not be saved. Local carabinieri arrived to carry out the necessary investigations following the tragic swimming incident.
