Traffic Disruptions on Brescia-Trentino Route Impact Limone Tourism
New disruptions for users of the 45bis, between Brescia and Trentino. The Provincia di Trento announced that from yesterday, between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m., on the Gardesana Occidentale in the stretch between Riva and Limone, traffic can only proceed intermittently. Traffic will be regulated by a alternating one-way system controlled by a traffic light.
The traffic restriction, announced before the Easter holidays and due to urgent works to complete an additional section of the road safety project, will last, at most, until May 19. After the full bookings recorded over the last two holiday and bridge weeks, and in anticipation of the arrival of summer tourists, this remains a somewhat tolerable inconvenience for the tourist capital of the upper Garda Brescia.
Impact on tourism in Limone
What raises concerns are rather the repercussions on the image of Limone, where tourism is almost exclusively the activity: one thousand residents, more than 50 hotels offering over 4,000 beds, two residences with 80 apartments, and three campsites with 300 pitches (more than half of the available beds for tourists in the nine municipalities of the Alto Garda Park are located in Limone).
In Limone, another new development in communications is noted, this time “by water.” The new ferry docking has been completed, built by the Municipality with support from the Region, which provided the necessary billion euros. The inauguration ceremony scheduled for yesterday has been postponed to another date.
New infrastructure for lake transport
This is a project promoted by the Public administration to enhance lake transport as much as possible and, above all, to limit disruptions caused by the frequent closures of the Gardesana. The new ferry dock in Limone complements the recently completed one in Malcesine, on the Veronese side.
Navigarda has also expressed its intention to establish a Limone-Malcesine route using the brand-new Mincio ferry, which would join the two existing services operating on the middle lake between Maderno and Torri del Benaco.
