Traffic in Lonato: San Zeno Tunnel and upcoming traffic disruptions
In Lonato, a window of respite opens today for traffic, as the San Zeno tunnel will remain open 24 hours a day until Sunday, August 31, thanks to a pause in the renovation work on the bypass tunnel. However, starting September 1, disruptions will resume continuously with evening and night closures from 8 PM to 7 AM until the expected completion of the work, scheduled for January 20. Local drivers will once again have to navigate alternative routes, especially when traveling to and from Brescia.
The traffic in the city is already under pressure due to the limitations caused by construction not only in the tunnel but also in the historic center due to ongoing work in Piazza Corlo. The roads are subject to various traffic alterations that further complicate local traffic. To ensure safety during the works, some streets will be accessible only to residents, and these restrictions may last for up to a month and a half, depending on weather conditions.
