The Verona-Catullo-Lake Garda train has officially commenced its operational phase, marking a significant step towards sustainable mobility in the region. Launched on July 21, this railway connection represents a strategic solution to decongest the Gardesana and enhance road safety in areas that have experienced recent fatal accidents. The new service promises to reduce travel times: 45 minutes compared to private vehicles and 70 minutes compared to buses, making the journey more efficient for passengers.
The project includes the construction of two new railway sections that will connect Verona to Catullo Airport, with a stop just 150 meters from the airport entrance. The line will continue towards Sommacampagna, then branching off towards the amusement parks Gardaland and Movieland in Lazise and Bardolino, covering a total distance of approximately 25 kilometers. Although the service is expected to be operational in about ten years following the design and funding phases, Councillor De Berti emphasized the project’s importance for safer and more environmentally friendly mobility in the surrounding area.
