Trattoria Rassica: celebration of traditional cuisine in Lonato del Garda

On Thursday, June 5th, **Lonato del Garda** celebrated an important evening dedicated to **traditional gastronomy**, marking the **double anniversary** of the historic **Trattoria Rassica**, founded in 1910 by Luigi Terenghi, and the **Confraternity of the Snail**, which is celebrating 15 years of activity. The event took place in the picturesque setting of the trattoria, attended by civil and religious authorities, including Mayor Roberto Tardani and MEP Paolo Inselvini. The evening combined conviviality and culture, culminating in a blessing from parish priest Don Marco Grechie and symbolic moments such as the presentation of the “lumacodromo” (snail racing track).

Today, Trattoria Rassica is led by Chef Piergiuseppe Bertola, along with his wife Monica Filippini and grandmother Cecilia Lissignoli, and continues to offer typical dishes such as snails, lake sardines, and cod, keeping alive the culinary tradition of the lower Garda region. The Confraternity of the Snail is dedicated to promoting a message of slowness and awareness through cultural initiatives that engage the community. During the evening, participants in the “slow toast” were awarded, highlighting the importance of savoring shared moments and the authentic flavors that characterize this part of Italy.
