The Forra Road in Tremosine remains closed, marking another compromised summer season for the local community. Despite recent approvals from Rome regarding the project for a new tunnel on the Gardesana between Gargnano and Tignale, there are no positive updates for the reopening of the road, which has been blocked by barriers erected on December 16, 2023, due to a landslide. Currently, vehicles cannot pass either at the intersection with the Gardesana or at the northern end, just below the village of Pieve.
Authorities are working on a “risk model” in collaboration with the Polytechnic University of Milan, aimed at ensuring a safe reopening in the future. This model includes detailed analyses of the slope and establishes activation thresholds for a landslide alert system. However, there are no imminent plans for reopening the roads, leaving the residents of the plateau in a state of concern over the economic and social consequences stemming from this prolonged situation.
