Tribute to Fabrizio De André at Smeraldo Theatre by Verona Artist Giuliana Bergamaschi

The concert dedicated to Fabrizio De Andrè and organized for tomorrow at 9 pm at the Smeraldo Theatre by the Associazione Amadeus, the Associazione commercianti, and the Pro Loco, with the support of the Municipal Administration, will not only be an opportunity to listen to some pieces from the extensive repertoire of the Genoese singer-songwriter (who passed away on January 11, 1999), but also a try to recreate the atmosphere in which they were born. Thus, the performance-project, titled «Potesse nascere un giorno una rosa…» (One day, a rose could be born…), by Verona-born singer Giuliana Bergamaschi (who for over ten years has been involved in music with ethnic-popular roots and, with her former band La Ratatuja, won the national Grinzane Cavour Award in ’96 and Arezzo Wave in 1997), will attempt to revive the port environment while intertwining various artistic contributions.

Performances and Statements

«On stage», declares Giuliana Bergamaschi, for whom De Andrè has been the main reference point, «there will be not only talented musicians (Stefano Bersan and Francesco Palmas on guitar, Antonio Canteri on harmonica and ethnic percussion, Ottavio Giacopuzzi on accordion and saxophone, Macambira on percussion), but also Brazilian dancer Doralice Ferreira De Santana and artworks from the Associazione Spazio Libero».

For the president of the Pro Loco, Mari.lenno Brentegani, this is a gamble: «It’s an enjoyable show that is also rich in content and communicative moments. That’s why I expect both fans of De Andrè and those who want to attend a special event to be present».

Equally aligned is Fiorella Marangoni, president of the Associazione Amadeus, which usually organizes classical music concerts. «I expect a full theatre for this event, which will also be a moment of gathering for young people,» she says.

Deep down, De Andrè was one of them in his search to enjoy life while also valuing everyday things: eating, drinking, etc. Above all, he was one of the most listened-to singer-songwriters among generations, from the sixties to the eighties (with Creuza de ma, perhaps his most beautiful album), and then his last album (Mi innamoravo di tutto), in which he reveals a turning point in his life: «If a miraculous voice (that of Mina, ed.) had not performed La canzone di Marinella in 1968, I would probably have finished law school to dedicate myself fully to law practice».
