Tribute to Luciano Beretta at Garda: A Musical Celebration of His Songs

“The Boy from Via Gluck,” “A Caress in a Fist,” “The Most Beautiful Couple in the World,” “Love Story,” “No One Can Judge Me,” “Applause,” “Fists Clenched”: in a hypothetical hit parade of the most beautiful Italian songs of the Twentieth Century, many would be signed by Luciano Beretta.

A tribute to his genius is a show staged at the Garda conference hall this evening at 8:45 PM, as part of the theatrical-musical series conceived by the La Rumarola troupe in collaboration with the Garda Municipal Library.

The title is: “W Luciano Beretta, the lyricist of…”. The show, organized and directed by Rino Condercuri, is performed by the Teàmus Academy, which is the musical branch of La Rumarola.

This musical choice was made possible by Condercuri’s intense work, a musician trained at the Salerno conservatory, with valuable experience working alongside figures such as Lina Sastri or Roberto De Simone.

From Condercuri’s passion, two shows have been born: “Our Free Song,” dedicated to Lucio Battisti (if you haven’t seen it yet, mark your calendar for January 20 in Valeggio sul Mincio), and now “W Luciano Beretta, the lyricist of…”, as mentioned.

The Creation of the Show

“Putting together a show dedicated to Beretta,” says Condercuri, “was the hardest thing and the easiest at the same time.

Extremely difficult, because every song not included in the show’s setlist and every unused poem felt like having to cut a branch from an ancient oak, but Luciano’s works are so numerous that performing them all would require singing for at least a month.

Very easy, because the selected songs and poems are so rich in ideas that the interpretation came out spontaneously.

We were captivated by his magical world.” This evening, the songs penned by Luciano Beretta will be performed by Laura Dellavalle, Elisa Pinamonte, Katia Tarocco, Davide Bonometti, Andrea Soffiati, and Andrea Tintori.

Additionally participating will be Marzio Bardi (as the storyteller), Sergio Bonometti (the mime), Emiliano Martinez (the painter), Veronica and Pinco (the dancers), and Rino Condercuri himself (the musician), who is also the director of the show.

The lighting is handled by Giorgio Truschelli, the scenography by Rachele Massari, choreography is coordinated by Carmelita Morando, the sound design by My Sound, while Camilla Monese and Elena Perantoni serve as stage assistants.

Future Perspectives and Enhancements

Meanwhile, in Garda, there seem to be other important developments in store to honor the memory and art of Luciano Beretta.

The new town hall is nearly completed, and part of the building will house the Municipal Library: a room might be dedicated specifically to Beretta.

Who knows, perhaps they will gather his collection of songs there.

These belong to the legend of Italian light music and have, by now, become part of the lake’s history.
