Universo Hosts Gospel Lecture Series on The Bible’s World and History
In Desenzano del Garda the cultural association Universo, with the patronage of the City’s Department of Culture, organizes a series of lectures titled «The Bible, its World, and Ours: from Creation to the Promised Land».
The course will begin on Friday, January 26, and will be held weekly until April 6. After the first session covering the period from Creation to the Tower of Babel, on February 2, the topic will be «The Call of Abraham, the Birth and Sacrifice of Isaac, and Jacob’s Dream». On Friday the 9th, the focus will be on «Jacob and Benjamin», and on February 16, the story of Joseph, from slavery to royalty, will be revisited.
On February 23, the subject will be «God and Pharaoh at the Dawn of Liberation», then the week of March 2 will be dedicated to the Book of Leviticus, March 9 to Numbers, March 16 to Deuteronomy, March 23 to the Book of Joshua, and April 6 to the Song of Songs.
The Project and the Speakers
The project, which benefits from the historical-literary commentary of Professor Bernardo Scaglia, involves Theologian Flavio Dalla Vecchia (a lecturer at several universities) and Musician Domenico Mantelli.
The registration fee for the course is 15,000 lire. The sessions are scheduled for 4:00 PM in the Peler hall of Palazzo Todeschini. Participants are primarily residents of Desenzano who are at least 55 years old.
