Last night, vandals struck the Lonato railway station, causing significant damage to the 19th-century building. All the windows on the ground floor were shattered, reduced to a thousand pieces. The discovery of the vandalism was made in the morning by Donatella Lazzaroni, president of the Pro Loco di Lonato, an association that has managed a “community center” on the first floor of the station since 2019, offering cultural and musical events.
Lazzaroni commented on the situation, noting that this is not the first time vandalism has occurred in the area, but never before has there been such extensive devastation. After breaking the windows, the vandals entered the vacant rooms, finding the lights on and documents scattered about. Among the items discovered was an abandoned bicycle, a sign of an intrusion that has left its mark on a place dedicated to culture and the community.
