Varignano Road Overhaul, New Routes, and Reconstruction Projects

A major transportation overhaul is imminent for Varignano: within a few months, starting from the south entrance of the town and extending to the borders with Vigne, the entire roadway system of the Arco area village will undergo a radical transformation. The local government is, in fact, preparing to initiate several road resurfacing projects, beginning with the modification of via Vittorio Veneto, which will be properly widened and realigned.

Landslide projects and road reconstructions

The reconstruction plan for the road that runs from the Grazie provincial road up into Varignano and continues towards Padaro is now in its final phase. In about a month—after the standard public display period at the municipal technical office—the proposal will become officially final, and the procedures for awarding the work can then commence.

The project, which includes building a sidewalk and a small roundabout at the junction with via delle Grazie (near the Madonna statue, which will be moved back a few meters), will cost approximately 1.5 billion lire and will be considered complete once the provincial road leading to Grazie, between via Frisoni and the convent, has been repaired.

This initiative, costing nearly 2 billion lire (entirely funded by the Province), is expected to begin by the end of the year. Additionally, the new Varignano bypass, on the road to Mandrea and S. Giovanni al Monte, will include a small connector road designed to minimize the passage of cars heading to the mountain resorts “preferred” by the locals from the village center.

New routes and road improvements

The new route will develop along the current pathway used by trucks shuttling between the cement plant and the previously existing quarry (scheduled for closure). This small connector will then link back to the road to Padaro at the foot of the first slope, immediately behind the last house in the village.

Among the various initiatives the administration has planned for Varignano’s traffic management, there is also the paving of via Bresciani and via Frisoni.
