Veneto and Garda Promote Tourism at Vakantiebeurs and Upcoming Events
The promotional machine for Veneto and Garda tourism is in full swing. Garda has also achieved good success in recent days at the Dutch tourism fair Vakantiebeurs, held in Utrecht. Veneto was present with the Regione stand, which featured the Garda offering as part of its presentation.
Presence and results at Vakantiebeurs
The regional proposal was naturally structured around all five pillars of Veneto’s tourism offer: the sea, the mountains, thermal baths, art cities, and Garda itself. During the six days of the tourism event, regional staff provided a substantial amount of information.
The attendance at the exhibition spaces was, in fact, very high: the fair attracted around one hundred sixty thousand visitors. Dutch people therefore reaffirmed themselves as one of the most receptive populations to the allure of holidays.
According to the Amsterdam office of Enit, the Italian National Agency for Tourism, it is estimated that about two-thirds of the population travel abroad, with a clear preference for France, Spain, Germany, and Italy. However, Dutch tourism is also undergoing a change in holiday styles.
Changes in Dutch tourists’ preferences
“From the requests received,” say the Garda Tourism Office, “it’s clear that Dutch tourists are no longer only interested in the beach. They also research art cities, dining, wines, and museums.” In short, the Dutch have become selective tourists.
The highest propensity remains, moreover, towards outdoor accommodation facilities and apartments. Meanwhile, the new promotional plan for 2001, entitled “Verona and Lake Garda. Holidays all year round,” is taking on more defined contours.
Promotional plan and upcoming event schedule
Building on the success of the previous five editions, the plan, promoted by the tourism department of Provincia di Verona in collaboration with the Apt agencies of Riviera degli Olivi and Verona, continues to be a key element of Verona’s tourism promotion, involving most institutional and economic realities of the province.
The January fair schedule has already included Verona’s presence at the German Reisemarkt Rhein-Necker-Pfalz in Mannheim, a prominent event in a region with a population of two million inhabitants.
The next promotional event is at Ferien in Vienna, taking place these days: Austria’s main tourism fair, which attracts around fifty thousand visitors annually.
On January 27 and 28, Verona’s tourism promotion entities will also participate in the Cmt Fahrrad und Reisen in Stuttgart, a specialized bicycle tourism fair. Once again, Garda and the surrounding area seem poised to showcase their appeal.
