Verona and Mantova Municipalities Promote Regional Tourism Initiatives
A preliminary outline of joint initiatives regarding tourism. This is what the nine municipalities of Verona and Mantova are seeking, with the support of their respective provincial authorities and Apt Riviera degli Olivi, who have organized the event “Terre dell’Alto Mincio” for the second year in a row.
Subsidies and Programs in Tourism
“Valeggio will start tomorrow,” explains Mareline Brentegani, president of the Pro loco, “with the antique market in the historic center and an exhibition of painting, sculpture, and mosaics in Borghetto. The activities will continue until July 1st, with the castle open from morning to evening, and on holidays, visitors will have the chance to explore the central tower, which we hope can also serve as an exhibition space. A choral festival will be held at the castle on June 30th.”
History and Memories of the Area
What unites the nine towns (Valeggio, Peschiera, Ponti sul Mincio, Monzambano, Volta Mantovana, Goito, Porto Mantovano) are many historical memories, economic exchanges dating back decades, and above all, the Mincio, which acts as a true connecting point among them.
Beauty and Routes along the Mincio
Indeed, some municipalities have set out from the Mincio to showcase their splendors. For example, Peschiera and Rodigo organized a boat tour along the Mincio, and Monzambano promoted the exhibition “Fotografa il Mincio” (“Photograph the Mincio”).
Proposals for Tourists
However, there will be many varied options for tourists, including culinary and enogastronomic experiences, as well as sporting activities like horseback riding in Monzambano and cycling along the bike path that, with few interruptions, stretches from Peschiera to Mantova.
Goals of the Event
The event aims not only to showcase the most evocative corners of the territory to the growing number of weekend visitors (cyclists, pedestrians, skaters) but also to encourage the movement of some of the eight million tourist presences that tend to congest the beaches of Garda inland.
