Verona Post Office Reopens with Modern Security and Accessibility Features
Reopening and features of the new postal office
The post office, as of this morning, is back in operation on via Abrile. Five months after its provisional relocation to via Caboto, the new facility now appears much more welcoming, safer, and technologically updated.
It is the first post office in the province of Verona to be modernized with cutting-edge technical solutions both in terms of environmental comfort and for the functionality and range of services offered to customers.
The inauguration took place yesterday morning, with the new structure being presented alongside Mayor Giorgio Comencini, Raffaele Galliano and Paolo Ximenes, respectively director of Poste Italiane Veneto and the Verona branch; Dr. Vittorio Mei, who arrived especially from Rome; and Francesco Pedrini, manager of the Garda agency, along with employees and a small audience.
The ceremony began with the blessing of the premises by parish priest Don Lino Toffoli and included the Mayor’s thanks to the executives of Poste Italiane for renovating the building “in full harmony with the initiatives of the administration in requalifying municipal heritage.”
The main improvements focus on security, with the nearly complete elimination of cash from counters through cash dispensers available to each teller; continuous monitoring of the public area via fully operational cameras; full visibility from outside through larger, more transparent display windows; external reinforced security features designed with a new concept, including security doors.
Accessible entry for people with disabilities and a tactile map to assist the visually impaired in understanding the office’s layout have also been implemented, along with a textured pathway on the floor of the hall guiding them to both postal counters and Bancoposta services.
The opening hours for the public are: Monday to Friday from 8:10 am to 1:30 pm, Saturday until 12:30 pm, and until noon on the last day of each month.
