Villanuova sul Clisi mourns the passing of Senator Gianpaolo Silvestri, who died during the night of November 2nd to 3rd. Silvestri, known for his commitment as a politician, journalist, and activist for civil rights and the environment, was one of the founders of Arcigay. His political career was marked by the promotion of the law for international protection, which allowed many LGBT+ individuals to seek asylum in Italy.
The LGBT+ community and many colleagues have expressed their condolences for the loss of a significant leader. The funeral will take place on Monday, November 4th, at 4:00 PM at the parish of Villanuova sul Clisi, departing from the “Domus Aurora” Funeral Home in Gavardo, followed by cremation.
