Violence in Desenzano: bar assault and police arrest
An incident of violence in Desenzano occurred over the weekend in Piazza Malvezzi, where a 33-year-old Pakistani citizen, homeless and a recipient of international protection status, was arrested by the police. The intervention of law enforcement was prompted by the manager of a bar, who reported a violent assault in progress. The man became unruly, throwing chairs and furniture at patrons and staff, creating panic and serious disturbances to public order.
Upon the police’s arrival, officers attempted to calm the individual, but he reacted by attacking them with kicks and punches, resulting in injuries to the officers that required medical attention with a prognosis of 10 days. The 33-year-old was arrested on charges of vandalism, resisting arrest, causing bodily harm, and threatening a public official. Due to the severity of the incident, the police chief has requested the revocation of his political asylum status, and procedures for his expulsion have been initiated.
