Visit Desenzano Consortium Clash: Four Council Members Challenge President Bonotto

A split has erupted at the top of Visit Desenzano, the city’s tourism promotion body, as four board members—Andrea Albiero, Lucia Cerini, Cristiano Malinverni and Marco Poletini—issued a joint statement on July 17, 2026 distancing themselves from the current presidency and calling for a governance change ahead of the September assembly. The group accuses the leadership of abandoning a participatory management model, citing alleged failures on participation, transparency and shared decision-making, and pointing to a lack of a governing majority that they say has led to decision-making deadlock.

The dispute centers on economic resources, urban planning, tourism policies and a reported €25,000 budget gap, which the dissenting councillors say was used for “thermal water” projects not approved by the board. President Emanuele Bonotto, elected in 2024, responded by calling the revolt “immature,” accusing the dissidents of repeatedly boycotting council meetings for months, and saying the September discussion will be open to everyone. He also indicated he would ask for the four members’ resignations if they are not “able” to carry out their roles, with the future of Visit Desenzano set to be decided at the autumn assembly.
