On March 18, 2025, Mons. Domenico Pompili, Bishop of Verona, visited the **Centro Servizi Dott. Pederzoli** located in Castelnuovo del Garda. This facility is well-known for its strong social vocation and offers a range of **socio-healthcare services** both within the community and beyond, primarily dedicated to non-self-sufficient individuals.
The Centro Servizi comprises several operational units, including a socio-healthcare residential facility capable of accommodating up to 102 non-self-sufficient individuals, a Community Hospital with 24 beds, a Hospice equipped with 10 beds, and a Day Center that welcomes up to 23 non-self-sufficient elderly individuals.
During the visit, Mons. Pompili was welcomed by Prof. Vittorio Pederzoli and Dr. Domenico Mantoan, respectively the President and CEO of the organization managing the center. The two executives guided the Bishop through the facility, outlining the various services offered and introducing the staff who dedicate themselves daily to the care of the patients.
Prof. Vittorio Pederzoli expressed gratitude for the Bishop’s presence: “I sincerely thank Mons. Domenico Pompili for his visit, which is a tribute to the commitment and dedication to caring for people,” he stated, emphasizing how this social sensitivity has led to the establishment of the Centro Servizi in response to the growing care needs of the community.
The visit is part of the particular attention that Mons. Pompili and the Church of Verona are giving to the sick and care facilities in anticipation of the Jubilee 2025, following the guidance provided by Pope Francis: “Signs of hope must be offered to the sick… The works of mercy are also works of hope.” This approach aims to ensure that the sufferings of the sick can find relief through the affection of those around them and the commitment of healthcare workers.
In this context, the meeting represented an important opportunity to strengthen the ties between religious institutions and healthcare entities in the daily struggle for the well-being of the most vulnerable members of the local community.
