Vittoriale Activates Art Bonus to Help Repair Storm Damage

The Vittoriale degli Italiani has launched an Art Bonus initiative to fund repairs after a severe storm on 17 July that damaged the historic monument complex in Gardone Riviera. The damage estimate, still being updated, is above €5 million. Citizens, private individuals and companies can contribute to the restoration work while benefiting from the tax incentives provided under current regulations.

The storm affected multiple areas of the site, including the Regia Nave Puglia, where the main mast tree was broken, and the Laghetto delle Danze, where historic balustrades and water drainage works were damaged. In the Vallette, 31 historic cypress trees were uprooted and landslides occurred, with additional problems reported at Villa Mirabella and along the historic road network. Further ground movements involved the slopes of Casa Fraole and the bow area of the Nave Puglia, where urgent consolidation is needed.

Planned interventions include conservation-focused restoration, static and hydrogeological stabilization, rebuilding damaged elements and restoring the historic arboreal heritage. “The Vittoriale is a heritage for everyone, and today we ask everyone to help protect it and return it intact for the future,” said President Giordano Bruno Guerri, highlighting the role of patronage and Art Bonus in cultural protection.
