Recent analyses from Legambiente’s campaign Goletta dei Laghi 2025 have revealed that 6 out of 4 river mouths on the Brescia side of Lake Garda are heavily polluted. The data, presented on Friday, June 27, shows that the water quality near the mouths of the canals continues to raise concerns. Among the critical points identified are the mouth of the canal near the Le Rive beach in Salò and that of the stream near the port of Padenghe sul Garda. However, two monitored points, such as the mouth of the stream in Sirmione and that in Toscolano Maderno, met legal limits.
The analyses are based on microbiological parameters such as Escherichia coli and intestinal Enterococci, highlighting that the main sources of pollution stem from inadequately treated discharges and illegal emissions. Emilio Bianco, spokesperson for the campaign, emphasized the importance of ongoing efforts to monitor the health of lake waters and warned of a deterioration compared to 2023. Barbara Meggetto, president of Legambiente Lombardia, added that it is necessary to implement shared policies to ensure the health of ecosystems and improve the integrated water cycle.
