Water rescue in Garda: the mayor of Brenzone intervenes with courage
The mayor of Brenzone, Paolo Formaggioni, performed a heroic rescue of a shipwrecked individual in the waters of Lake Garda on November 22 around 11 a.m. While heading to the Santa Caterina Fair, he was alerted by Mirco Boccola, a local merchant, about a capsized sailboat with a man in distress approximately 250 meters off the coast of Castelletto. Despite the fact that the Salò Coast Guard was already on its way, the mayor chose to take immediate action by contacting sailor Luca Modena and three other men to reach the shipwrecked individual. After borrowing a fishing boat moored at the harbor, the rescuers managed to reach the man, who had been struggling to right his vessel for nearly twenty minutes. Despite the high waves and the challenges of maintaining the stability of the boat, the group succeeded in hoisting the shipwrecked man aboard. Once back on shore, the individual requested assistance to recover his sunken boat, underscoring how critical the situation had been. This swift and courageous intervention highlights the importance of readiness in maritime emergencies. Italian Version
