Water Treatment Cooperation Begins Between Garda Uno and INT.DEP.CAST

An important meeting between two companies responsible for water treatment and environmental protection took place recently in Castiglione delle Stiviere between INT.DEP.CAST srl (Intervento Depurazione Castiglionese) and Azienda Speciale Garda Uno, the municipal utility for Garda.

Present were the respective Presidents Nunzio Belluzzi for INT.DEP.CAST and Guido Maruelli for Garda Uno, along with their general managers, Mr. Franco Richetti and Mr. Mauro Morandi; notable witnesses included Mayor Arturo Sigurtà and Environment Councillor Giuseppe D’Ambrosio of Castiglione, who officially signed the protocol agreement for the management coordination of public services with environmental significance.

Objectives and modes of cooperation

Essentially, the two entities have initiated a form of cooperation that will involve managing their respective services in the Garda Bresciano and Alto Mantovano territories. The main goal is to streamline the overall organization and coordination of services to optimize delivery, improve quality of life, and enhance environmental and human health protection.

They will promote initiatives to raise awareness among users about the rational use of resources, paying particular attention to the need for constant maintenance of internal water systems. Special focus will also be given to the use of environmental water resources, recovery, and reduction of waste.

Upcoming projects and regulations

Among the upcoming projects, the two companies, through mutual agreement, will promote the implementation of dual piping networks for residential, commercial, and industrial settlements, appropriate methods for using treated wastewater, and the recovery of materials and energy from waste. Respecting their respective roles, the companies will adhere to the provisions recently outlined by the Ronchi and Galli Laws.

The protocol agreement does not specify, by the municipalities involved in the territorial associative structures Garda Uno and INT.DEP.CAST, while preserving the local communities’ autonomy, the assignment of services to the companies of the aforementioned entities.

Future activities and collaborations

The collaboration initiated with this signing will not be limited to general consultancy activities but will also focus on the optimization of vegetative waste disposal, residual sludge from their respective treatment plants, and the dry fraction of urban solid waste, as well as cogeneration, study and design activities, and promotional and awareness campaigns.
