The Winter Challenge 2024 is set to kick off with the first sailing regatta taking place on Sunday, November 17, involving over 65 boats in the waters of the lake. The event, organized by the Fraglia Vela di Desenzano in collaboration with the Circolo Nautico di Moniga del Garda, will feature four days of competition: in addition to the first race, regattas will be held on December 1, 2024, January 19, 2025, and February 2, 2025. The crews, divided into four classes including Dolphin 81 and Asso 99, will begin their challenges at 10 AM on Sunday, with the possibility of up to eleven races being held.
Coinciding with the opening of the regatta, a special event will take place on Saturday, November 16, to commemorate Ettore Santarelli, the renowned sailboat designer, on the centenary of his birth. During the gathering, the book “Ettore Santarelli, Dreamer of Boats” by Piero Vantini will be presented, along with a historical video showcasing the Asso 99 regattas. This ceremony represents an important opportunity to pay tribute to a pioneer of Italian boating and to celebrate the excellence of local sailing.
