Winter Cup 2023: Garda Sailing Event Revives Regattas, Recognized by FIV
The first edition of the Winter Cup, the sailing event promoted and organized thanks to the will of two Gardesani Nautical Clubs: Portese and Maderno, concluded successfully and with great enthusiasm.
The event was held over four stages, two for each club, with the merit of reviving the regatta sector of Garda, which remains largely inactive during the winter period. Four races— Natale sul Golfo, Santa Lucia, La Befana, San Valentino— saw an average presence of 25 boats, “a highly rewarding participation”, commented the presidents of the two organizing clubs, Italo Mosca for Portese and Enzo Mulatti for Maderno.
Award Ceremony and Results
Even during the final awards ceremony, held at the Hotel Park Hotel Casimiro di Portese, turnout was very significant, with the presence of all the officials from the 12 crews that placed in the top three positions of the four participating classes.
“An experience that will certainly be repeated next winter”— stated vice president of Circolo Nautico Portese, Gianni Rosina— “certainly with an increase in participants. Our first experience was well appreciated by many crews who, during this edition, could not be present due to prior commitments. Our Winter Cup mainly involves clubs from mid and high Garda and has also been included in the official calendar of FIV, the Italian Sailing Federation.
